Making life better by design.

Design Council in London was established in 1944 to promote 'by all practicable means the improvement of design in the products of British industry.' In 2005 the Design Council started promoting the Double Diamond design process model, widely adopted and references across both industrial design and service design industries around the world.


Since 1960s the Design Council was the founding member and has continued to be a member of both International Council of Design and the International Design Organisation (formerly Icsid).


Today, after over 75 years it continues to champion great design that improves lives and makes things better. 'Making life better by design' 2020 report showcases the impact of design on economy and its major areas: business innovation, public services and places. The document also explains how Design Council has helped to clarify what design is and to champion its use, inspiring and enabling people across the world to embed design in their work. The report brings together key findings from research and project conduced over the past 15 years demonstrated evidence-based business value of design and sharing statistics and stories on design from business, government and NGO sectors.
